Layers in the morning and windows down in the afternoon – welcome to March and spring in Lethbridge. The first topic I want to address this month is the wonderful recent news from the Lethbridge Police Service that crime in our city decreased by 16 per cent in 2024. 

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire at the 600 block of 8 Street South at 4:46 a.m. on Monday, March 10. 

Tree pruning will impact traffic in north Lethbridge this week.

City Council has approved a move on Tuesday, that saves more than $1.4 million in loan interest and initiates next steps in meeting the new provincially mandated recycling regulations.

It is now less than seven months until the beginning of the 2025 Election Period in Lethbridge – and preparations are well underway. 

City crews are performing an emergency streetlight repair on Crowsnest Trail (Highway 3). 

Work is taking place in the inner eastbound and westbound lanes just east of the Oldman River crossing. Traffic in both directions is flowing at a reduced speed in the outer lanes.

Eight departments from the City of Lethbridge will be taking part in this year’s Home, Garden & Leisure Show running March 13-15 at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre. 

City Council was provided an update from administration on the limited funding available in the next Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the planning challenges that lie ahead.

City crews are repairing a watermain in the 1200 Block of 6 Avenue South. 

The work area has closed the inner eastbound and westbound lanes. Outer lanes in both directions remain open at this time, but the closure may be extended into both westbound lanes if required.
