  • Fire crews prevent major damage in suspicious weekend structure fire

    Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire at a multi-unit building on the 600 block of 3 Avenue South just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 29. 

    Firefighters from four stations were dispatched. Crews arrived to find flames visible on a second-floor balcony. Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the fire before it could spread throughout the structure.

    A water service repair has closed the 100 block of Fairmont Boulevard South.

  • City’s yard waste sites reopen tomorrow

    The City of Lethbridge’s three self-service yard waste sites are open for the season starting Tuesday, April 1. All three locations will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Watermain upgrade to close portion of 20 Street South for six weeks

    A temporary road closure of 20 Street South from 22 Avenue to the Scenic Drive Service Road is set to begin today. This work is anticipated to take about six weeks and is to be complete by mid-May, weather permitting.

  • Repairs to cause temporary road closure at Festival Square

    A temporary road closure of 6 Street South between 3 Avenue and the laneway near Festival Square is set to begin on Monday, March 31. This contractor warranty repair work involves replacing damaged concrete panels in the roadway. As the concrete will take about a week to cure to the required strength before the road can be reopened, this work is anticipated to be complete by Monday, April 14, weather permitting.

  • Electric Utility crews upgrading electricity meters

    The City of Lethbridge Electric Utility Department is upgrading residential and commercial electricity meters that are due for testing. This is in alignment with regulations set by Measurement Canada to ensure electricity is being measured accurately.

    The deadline is fast approaching for registered non-profits to apply for the Make Your Mark (MYM) grant funding. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply before the application deadline on March 31. The one-time grant offers capital funding to support non-profit organizations in enhancing their capacity to provide community services.
