    Water safety reminders

    In recognition of National Drowning Prevention Week (July 20-26, 2025), Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) is reminding residents and visitors to be safe near water. To help everyone reduce risks while enjoying the Oldman River, or any other water body, LFES has compiled important reminders and tips to keep your family and friends safe. 

  • River Valley fire ban lifted

    The River Valley Fire Ban in Lethbridge has been lifted, effective immediately. Recent changes in weather conditions, including higher humidity levels, have reduced the fire risk in this area. 

  • Bridge rehabilitation work on Whoop-Up Drive begins tomorrow

    Bridge rehabilitation work on Whoop-Up Drive will begin tomorrow, July 24, 2025, with lane closures, detours, and traffic delays. Construction will continue until the end of September, with major traffic impacts occurring in the next five weeks. This work is required to maintain this critical piece of our traffic network and prevent costly repairs in the future.

     

  • 5 Street South temporary road closures this week

    As part of the Reimagine 5 Street South project, sewer inspections and survey work is being conducted this week along 5 Street South. Starting tonight, Monday, July 21, to Thursday, July 24, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., full road closures will take place consecutively, at each block along the corridor. The night closures avoid peak traffic times and ensure safety.
