  • Holiday season safety tips

    As the holiday season approaches, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) reminds residents to take simple precautions to ensure safety and prevent fires. December is one of the busiest months for home fires, but many can be prevented by taking simple precautions with cooking, decorating and home safety. 

  • Prepay your property taxes for 2025 and save

    Property owners can make prepayments towards their 2025 property taxes in January or February. This will result in a discount when 2025 tax bills are issued in May.

  • City Hall hours during the holiday season

    Lethbridge City Hall will be closed for a portion of the holiday season.

  • Water main repair near Brewery Gardens

    Crews are working to repair a water main break in the 100 Block of 1 Avenue South.  

    The outside eastbound lane of 1 Avenue South, as it approaches Scenic Drive South, is closed. The inside eastbound lane and both westbound lanes remain open. 

  • Celebrating 100 years of women elected to office in Lethbridge

    This month marks an important milestone in Lethbridge public service: 100 years since the first women were elected to office.

    In December 1924, Susan Bawden and Mary McClenaghan won election to the Lethbridge Public School Board.

  • Emergency watermain repair underway in Scenic Heights

    An emergency watermain repair is underway, impacting all residences along the 1600 block of Scenic Heights South. We are working diligently to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

  • Ice safety reminders after water rescue

    Residents are being reminded about the dangers of open water in colder weather. Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) responded to a water rescue incident aerlier today. At approximately 8:30 a.m. crews from two stations were dispatched to the Oldman River near the Highway 3 bridge. They arrived to find an individual stranded on ice in the middle of the river.

    Thanks to the crews’ swift actions, the individual was rescued without injury. 

    This incident serves as an important reminder of the dangers of venturing on partially frozen water bodies. 

  • Single lane closure on Whoop-Up Drive tomorrow morning

    Southbound Whoop-Up Drive traffic will be impacted by a single lane closure between University Drive West and Columbia Boulevard West. The closure will occur on the outside lane from approximately 9 am and 12 pm tomorrow, December 5, 2024.

  • Accepting public submissions for the 2024 Winter Count

    Another winter solstice is on the horizon. December 21 marks the start of winter and the day in the year with the fewest hours of daylight. It will be celebrated at the Blackfoot Winter Solstice and residents are invited to submit significant events for the 2024 Lethbridge Winter Count.

  • Emergency sewer repair impacting 6 Avenue South

    An emergency sewer repair is impacting a two-block stretch of 6 Avenue South.
