Al Beeber, Councillor
Al Beeber was elected to Lethbridge City Council for the first time in 2025.
Al, who grew up in southern Alberta where his late dad Bill was a long-time lineman with the utility company then known as Calgary Power, spent 45.5 years as a newspaper journalist/editor. After starting his career in northwestern Ontario as a sports and outdoors writer, Al returned to southern Alberta in 1987 and began working at the Lethbridge Herald where he spent the past four years covering City Council. He also spent two of those years as editor, as well as many years as the newspaper's entertainment and automotive editor.
Known for his folksy newspaper columns and his affinity for rescue dogs, Al can often be found in his spare time with leashes in hand at city parks.
Councillor Beeber sits on the Assets and Infrastructure and Safety and Social Standing Policy Committees, as well as a Council representative for the Chinook Arch Regional Library System and Economic Development Lethbridge.
