Heritage Management Plan

The City of Lethbridge’s Heritage Management Plan (HMP) identifies and manages heritage resources by recommending options for the creation of a heritage program. This program has evolved and expanded in the years since the original HMP was created in 2007, and we are currently updating the HMP to reflect more diverse heritage planning perspectives.

2023 Update

The Heritage Management Plan was updated in 2023 to better represent, celebrate and protect Indigenous heritage in our community and region, as well as other under-represented perspectives including those of women, visible minorities and other equity-seeking groups.

The HMP follows the work of the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan Compliance Initiative’s (SSRPCI) Environment and Historic Resources Strategy and Traditional Knowledge and Use Assessment. It also follows recommendations set out in the City of Lethbridge and the Reconciliation Implementation Plan 2017-2027.
