Jenn Schmidt-Rempel was raised in Claresholm, Alberta, and moved to Lethbridge in 1988 to attend the University of Lethbridge, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. A lifelong Southern Albertan, Jenn and her husband Tim have built their home and businesses in Lethbridge, the community they are proud to call home.

Jenn is a partner in a communications and marketing consulting business, and has owned several local quick-serve restaurant franchises. Many residents will remember her as the owner, publisher, and editor of Lethbridge living magazine and its associated publications, where for ten years she and her team explored and shared the stories of Lethbridge and its residents.

In 2021, Jenn was honoured to be elected to Lethbridge City Council for her first term. She is committed to listening, asking questions, and making thoughtful, evidence-based decisions that reflect the values and priorities of Lethbridge residents. Her approach to leadership emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and integrity.

Jenn currently serves on the Lethbridge Police Commission, the Chinook Primary Care Network and the Alberta Municipalities Economic Strategy Committee.

She has previously served on numerous community and provincial boards, including the Premier’s Advisory Task Force on Ukraine, the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Lethbridge, the City of Lethbridge Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge, the Covenant Health Lethbridge Community Board, the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association, Magazines Canada, and several Lethbridge BILD committees.

Jenn has represented Lethbridge and local organizations on eight Team Lethbridge missions, where she worked alongside community leaders to strengthen relationships with provincial decision-makers and promote Lethbridge’s role in Alberta’s long-term success.

She is passionate about community, connection, and collaboration, and believes deeply in the power of storytelling to bring people together, and works to ensure that the voice of our city is heard, valued, and represented.

Councillor Schmidt-Rempel sits on the Audit Standing Policy Committee, the Governance Standing Policy Committee and the Joint Committee of the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge School Boards.
